Summer at Perimeter is busy and we need your help. We have summer student positions available throughout the Institute, running from May 5, 2025 to August 22, 2025.
The Black Hole Bistro is the heart of Perimeter and will be extra busy during the summer months with conferences and Perimeter’s 25th Anniversary celebrations. The Kitchen Assistant Summer Student will help the Bistro meet the Institute’s Bistro needs by assisting the Bistro team in tasks ranging from cleaning, dishwashing, food preparation, organizing and sorting items, including deliveries.

Primary Duties Include:
- Clean kitchen equipment and cooking utensils
- Food preparation of exciting and changing menu
- Wash dishes
- Sweep, mop, and clean kitchen
- Clean equipment after use
- Organize, label, and keep track of prepared foods
- Receive, organize, and put away deliveries
- Practice safe food handling and preparation techniques
- All other related duties as required or requested
- Shifts will mainly be daytime Monday to Friday, but must be available for days, evenings and weekends according to the requirements of the Bistro
What you need to have:
- Previous experience in a restaurant is an asset
- Ability to follow instructions
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Ability to work as part of a team
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Safe food handling certificate is required, however Perimeter will provide opportunities to attain
