Reporting to the Manager, External Communications, the Social Media Specialist uses data and metrics to inform the development, marketing and improvement of strategic content tailored to various audiences. As a member of Perimeter’s Public Engagement and Communications team, the role contributes to messaging that relays the importance of fundamental science, and the value of Perimeter, in support of institutional goals.

This role is a 12-month full time salaried contract which offers paid vacation, extended health care benefits and an optimal work life balance.

What You’ll Do:

  • Be the voice of Perimeter across social platforms—creating, curating, and sharing engaging content.

  • Capture and edit photos and videos to bring our research and impact to life.

  • Develop and execute strategic social media campaigns that connect with donors, educators, and science enthusiasts worldwide.

  • Maintain a content calendar to ensure timely, relevant, and cohesive messaging.

  • Analyze engagement data to optimize content and drive audience growth.

  • Champion our social media automation tools (HubSpot) and ensure campaigns are targeted and effective.

  • Monitor audience interactions, respond to comments, and help shape our digital presence.

  • Stay ahead of trends and bring fresh, innovative ideas to our social strategy.

What You Bring:

  • A postsecondary education in marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field.

  • 1–2 years of hands-on social media marketing experience in a professional setting.

  • Strong writing skills with the ability to simplify complex ideas into engaging content.

  • Experience with photography, video editing, and basic graphic design.

  • Proficiency in social media management and design tools (HubSpot, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, etc.).

  • A creative mindset and strategic approach to audience engagement.

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects with ease.

  • A passion for science communication and making complex ideas accessible to all.
